The Repair Process:
- Get On Waitlist
- Drop Off
- Initial Assessment and Quote
- Quote Approval
- Repair and Ordering Parts
- Final Burn-In and Inspection
- Pick up Unit
A bench fee of $75 is taken when you drop your unit off to be serviced. It covers the cost of time and labor required to open your unit up, and produce a repair quote. If you decide to approve a quote, the bench fee will be put toward your final repair bill.
Bench testing of all the unit’s main functions, a visual inspection of the electronic and mechanical components and a determination of the overall ‘health’ of the unit.
Send an email to info@muse.audio Include the unit’s make and model, your contact info and whether you want to approve the quote. Or call us at (734) 545-5775
Or
If you provided an Email address when you dropped your unit off, you will receive an email linking you to our online portal, from there you can view the status of your ticket and approve or reject quotes.
It can be more difficult for rare pieces, and sometimes there are just no parts or substitutes available. Most of the time parts can be found for even the oldest of equipment. In the worst case a component can sometimes be rebuilt or a new component fabricated. (This is typically more expensive than just replacing with an OEM part though).
Typically 1 – 2 weeks. However, it could be 2 – 4 weeks if we have to order special parts, and up to 8 weeks if we have to order parts from overseas, though this is pretty rare.
Think of it as quality assurance. After a unit is repaired we will run the unit for several hours, testing all functions. Sometimes even for several days if the unit came in for intermittent issues. That way we can be sure that everything is working before we return it to you.
Once repair work is complete we will contact you by Email, or telephone. You will have 90 days from date of completion to pick up your unit. However, if your unit is not picked up within 15 days there will be an additional $10 per week storage fee applied.
By 90 days we will have made several attempts to contact you. If you do not pick up your unit by then, we will mark it as ‘Abandoned’. At that point the unit may be sold to repay the repair amount due.

It varies depending on the particular unit and it’s condition. But most repairs fall between $250 – $1000
A functional repair consists of bringing your unit back into good working condition. Replacing defective components and giving it a basic tuneup E.g. Cleaning scratchy controls. This is our cheapest option but is not always available if your unit has several issues.
A restoration / rebuild consists of brining your unit back to factory specification and make it reliable again. Replacing known untrustworthy parts with more reliable modern substitutions, and replacing parts that still work but are worn and could fail in the near future. For example electrolytic capacitors that have degraded below tolerance that may technically still work but can cause a loss of clarity.
An upgrade consists of everything listed in the restoration, as well as preforming modifications to improve reliability and sound of a unit. Some examples of these modifications would include:
- Circuit modifications to correct engineering oversights from the manufacturer.
- Using modern, higher tolerance substitute components for less distortion and better clarity.
- Upgrading to higher value main filter capacitors for better low end response.
The warranty covers the repair work done to your unit. If a new issue arrises that’s not related to the repair it may not be covered.
